Exercise Physiology Research Laboratory
The exercise physiology research laboratory was established in 2019. In this laboratory, the effects of exercise on the physiological function of various organs could be assessed in different diseases and health conditions such as aging and diabetes in experimental models (rats). It is also possible to investigate the effect of exercise training on cardiovascular system performance with the capability of recording contractility and heart function and hemodynamic parameters, i.e. systemic and pulmonary blood pressure. Currently, this laboratory has two treadmills specialized for rats capable to perform protocols with adjusted in slope and running speed. Also the aboratory is equipped with a Morris water to investigate the effect of exercise on learning and memory, a physiograph recording system (Power Lab), a surgical table and ventilation pump for experimental animals, and a digital scale with an accuracy of 0.01 grams. Dr. Zahra Behrouzi is the person in charge with this laboratory.
