Cold room
In 2008, with the beginning of the cohort study, (KERCADRS) the Physiology Research Center purchased -80 oC freezers to store serum samples (Biobank). With the increase in the number of samples of this study, the number of these freezers was increased to four units until 2022.
this includes two DAHAN freezers (South Korea), one ARCTIKO freezer (Denmark), and one Jal TAJHEZ freezer (Iran).
To increase the lifespan and optimal energy consumption of these freezers it was required that the environmental temperature of the room to be constant and lower than 25 0C during the day and night. For this purpose, the ambient temperature was kept constant at 23 0C by a split device.
now, this space is also used to store medicines, chemicals, and temperature-sensitive laboratory materials. Currently, in addition to serum samples, DNA samples of people participating in the cohort study are extracted and maintained in the biobank.
