Basic Physiology Lab

Basic Physiology Laboratory was established in 2008 and completed in 2009. In this laboratory, basic physiological research is mainly done on animal models. Investigating the mechanisms of cardiovascular effects of drugs, for example their effects on heart and blood flow of organs and systemic blood pressure can be done in this lab. Besides development of ischemic cardiac models (both in-vivo and ex-vivo (isolated heart)), induction of hypertension such as renovascular model (2K1C) and also induction of rheumatoid arthritis to investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms of these diseases or to investigate the effect of new drugs on them are some other  research fields. The laboratory now uses a system for recording physiological data (Physiograph Power Lab) connected to computer, isolated heart system (Langendorff and Working Heart), laboratory animal surgical table, respiratory pump, gas anesthetic system, surgical microscope, ordinary microscope, Non-invasive blood pressure recording system  (NIBP) , Infusion Pump, rat treadmill, and digital weighing Balance. The lab technician is Dr.Mahboobeh Yeganeh.
